Maine’s Mid Coast Region begins in Bath/Brunswick (26 miles north of Portland), and Bowdoin. It continues further along the coast northeast to Searsport on Penobscot Bay. Travelers will see the beautiful seaside towns of Camden, Rockland and Belfast. This region is home to several creameries of the Midcoast Cheese Trail. Many have shops on site, and some ship their award-winning products.
Area wineries, giftshops and farm stores offer a range of Maine farm products. You’ll find delicious local fare – from the simple to fine dining too. Take Route 1 up the coast, or travel inland on Route 17 to see the beauty of the rolling hills of pastures, and wild blueberry fields in Union. With so much variety and beautiful scenery, it’s easy to understand why travelers and farmers alike appreciate this region of Maine.
