Promoting Maine agricultural products

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (DACF) has a new name and fresh look for its marketing program. “Real Maine” promotes Maine foods, farms, agricultural businesses, and farm products. Look for the logo at farmers’ markets, farm stores, grocery stores, and specialty shops throughout Maine, across New England, and nationally.

“Real Maine” is part of an increased marketing and advertising initiative led by DACF to promote farms, agricultural events, Maine-sourced foods, and other farm products. The Department’s first marketing program, called “get real. get Maine!” was created in 2001. The logo was widely used, and will be seen on agricultural products for some time to come.

Even though the “get real. get Maine!” logo is widely recognized, it was starting to seem dated. (The lower case letters were confusing, too!) The Department gathered feedback from producer groups, consumers, and partners to develop the refreshed look. The new Real Maine logo echoes the spirit of the older brand, but with a cleaner, more modern look.

Real Maine means grown or made right here in Maine

The Department unveiled the new Real Maine logo in early 2020. Many businesses are already using it on their foods and farm products. When shoppers see the Real Maine logo, they know that product was grown or produced right here in the state of Maine. Any farmer or producer who grows or makes their products in the state can use the logo to promote their products.

This website was created to help Mainers and visitors to Maine explore, experience, discover, and connect with local foods and farms. Use it to find farms and products, or to build an itinerary for an excursion to “revisit Maine” this summer. The Real Maine team will be sharing Maine agricultural events, news, activity suggestions, recipes, and more. Also, don’t miss Real Maine on Facebook: www.facebook.com/GetRealMaine/ !
