Alda’s small business •Fragrant Gardens• is an
informally grown, vast collection of hardy plants for
cut flowers. Begun in 1971, she has been growing
in these gentle, Freedom, Maine, Montville
mountains, for almost five decades. The North
Ridge Road is a living cathedral with superb atavistic
beauty.
