The Dunham family has lived in this area of the western Maine foothills for over 100 years. Brian and Suzanne Dunham have turned the farm into a working operation of maple and honey. They also operate a commercial kitchen in part of their sugar house which is a dedicated gluten-free facility and sell baked goods, mixes and granolas through area natural foods stores, the Greenwood Farmers' Market, restaurants, and directly from the farm. Brian and Suzanne built Velvet Hollow Sugar Works on their property in 2012 and have progressively added taps; they purchased a 2 x 6 CDL evaporator in 2012. In 2013, the Dunhams added to their sugar house where they can accommodate more people visiting on Maine Maple Weekend and other special events. A kitchen addition was built in 2018.
