In 2002, we established a commercial winery featuring fruit and honey wines, produced from our own and other local organic fruits. We specialize in apple, blueberry and cranberry wines and smaller productions of raspberry, kiwi, and honey mead wines. Our wines have been very well reviewed and are available from our winery or in selected wine shops and natural food stores in Maine. Read more on our website.
We are a certified organic farm and everything we grow or produce is according to organic standards. We primarily grow organic fruit – apples, blueberries, cherries and raspberries – for our wines or for wholesale or retail sale from the farm. We also grow vegetables for retail sale through our CSA or from our farm store. We raise chickens for eggs and meat, and we raise registered Rambouillet sheep for wool and meat. We have for sale beautiful yarns, both handspun and organically mill-spun sportweight, both in natural colors and plant-dyed, as well as tanned pelts and fleece.
We invite you to come stay on our farm in a lovely, private apartment in the ell of the farmhouse. We rent the apartment on a weekly basis. You may participate in the farm activities or not, depending on your wishes. We are located about 30 minutes from Mt. Desert Island and Acadia National Park and about 25 minutes from the Schoodic Point part of Acadia National Park. We can see four “ponds”, a Maine term for lakes, for swimming, kayaking and other water sports. Franklin is located on Taunton Bay, part of beautiful Frenchman’s Bay of the Atlantic Ocean. There are wonderful mountain trails to hike nearby and the DownEast Sunrise Trail (TrailLink ID 60160820) for biking, hiking, horseback riding, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing, crosses our road about a half-mile from our farm.
