Across Maine, you’ll find something special to explore as part of Real Maine’s fifth annual Fall Fiber Tour & Trail.

The event was created to help customers learn more about local fiber farming, textile and fiber production, and all parts of this time-honored craft.

There’s plenty to explore during the first two weekends in October. We hope you find something special and enjoy supporting these local makers and the connection to Maine agriculture! Elf-Paca Meadows in West Newfield (Saturday and Sunday, October 4–5 and Saturday and Sunday, October 11–12) provides an interactive fiber tour where guests can meet alpacas, feel their fleece, and follow the transformation into sustainable yarns.

In Lovell, Hilltop Handspun (Saturday and Sunday, October 4–5, and Friday through Monday, October 10–13) offers ongoing spinning, hand-dyeing, and knitting demos with Maine-grown fibers, with yarn and hand-knitted items for sale.

Good Karma Farm Yarn & Soap in Bridgton (Saturday and Sunday, October 4–5, and Friday through Monday, October 10–13) welcomes guests to learn about local yarns and fiber products.

Happy Snowman Alpaca Farm in Farmington hosts a one-day-only event on Sunday, October 5, featuring spinning fibers, alpacas, and complimentary hot chocolate.

A Wrinkle in Thyme Farm in Sumner invites visitors for a four-day experience (Friday, October 10 through Monday, October 13) with tours of their fiber store, sheep in the fields, buildings, and a visit to the garden.

At Rockin’ Sheep Farm in Livermore Falls (Saturday and Sunday, October 4–5, and Friday through Monday, October 10–13), visitors can explore wool from happy Columbia sheep, including yarns and lamb pelts made from sustainable, natural fibers.

Versicolor in South China (Saturday and Sunday, October 4–5, and Friday through Monday, October 10–13) is a dye garden and studio where guests can dye bandanas or yarn, see 50 years of natural dyeing, and explore plantings that support native species in Central Maine.

Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm in Unity (Sunday, October 5, and Friday through Sunday, October 10–12) gives free tours, a gift shop, photo ops with alpacas, and a relaxing farm environment.

In Bristol, The Byre Farm (Sunday, October 5 and Sunday, October 12) hosts a pasture walk at 1:00 PM (sturdy footwear recommended).

In Southport, Cape Newagen Farm (Sunday, October 5 only) offers a chance to learn about alpacas and high-quality local fiber products. Nearby, The Barn at the Southport General Store (Saturday and Sunday, October 4–5, and Friday through Monday, October 10–13) encourages knitters to relax, craft, grab coffee, and connect with fiber friends around their craft table.

Seacolors Yarnery at Meadowcroft Farm in Washington (Sunday, October 5 only) offers a unique look into solar-dyed wool from regeneratively grazed Polwarth sheep. Visitors can knit their own sweater using free patterns or request custom work.

 Kurier, a small Portland yarn and fabric shop (Saturday, October 4, Friday and Saturday, October 10–11), features unique, hand-dyed skeins crafted in the owner’s home studio.  

Finally, Ewe & I Farm in Kennebunkport (Saturday and Sunday, October 4–5, and Friday through Monday, October 10–13) showcases raw wool, roving, handspun yarns, and a selection of Bartlett Yarns, along with barn and animal visits.
